Self-defence for youth organisations
Krav Generation does lots of work with youth organisations, including local Brownie, Scout, Guide and Explorer groups, providing children and young people with self-defence sessions that are both fun and educational.
We run engaging and active workshops within a structured environment and share important life skills. We are helping to make self-defence one of the key skills that these organisations promote and have ensured that we are aligned with the aims of these fantastic groups. Here’s how we do it!
Confidence and skill development
- Building self-esteem through fun warm-ups activities and learning self-defence techniques, which helps participants gain confidence and believe in their abilities.
- Developing a range of skills that can be used to defend against all types of bullying, emotional, psychological and physical attacks. They also learn outdoor skills like situational awareness and not putting themselves at unnecessary risk.
- Fostering resilience through playing games and learning self-defence, so that they can adapt to situations as they arise and develop a confident mindset.
Community and social skills
- Making new friends by interacting and mixing with others who might not be their best buddies. Our aim is to help build understanding, tolerance and kindness, all key to forming friendships and social connections.
- Learning to work in a team is integral to Krav Generation and essential in life. Training involves working in pairs, small groups and as a collective. This teaches the children how to collaborate, share responsibilities and support each other.
- Developing leadership skills really comes in to play with older age groups, particularly for anyone participating in the Duke of Edinburgh award. As our classes have a structure, the children quickly learn how the class is run. They are then able to step in and teach a warm-up to their peers, which helps them learn to make decisions and consider different perspectives.
Exploring creative interests
Our classes always include a game (or two). Centred around the techniques that will be learnt in the class, the games use the body form that will be required in the self-defence moves, which helps build the appropriate muscle memory. As each game is different it encourages creativity as participants devise strategies to win the game.
Learning about the world
Krav Generation provides the opportunities to learn about the environment and social issues, promoting awareness and responsibility for their actions.
Developing values
Our own club ethos is rooted in honesty, kindness, respect and a sense of community, values we aim to instil in everyone who takes part in Krav Generation classes.
Don’t just take our word for it…
It’s great to hear just how well received our classes are. One adult leader sent us this message: “Thanks, Laura, for providing two excellent sessions for Scott Unit Explorers. The children (and leaders) all thoroughly enjoyed the sessions and learnt a lot from them. Laura is a great instructor who has extensive knowledge of self-defence. I would highly recommend.” And another said: “Our Explorers must have gone home buzzing, because we got a stream of positive feedback from their parents on our WhatsApp group after the session.”
Thinking of inviting Krav Generation to your youth group?
We adapt our classes to be age appropriate and will always take time to discuss plans for your session. Why not get in touch and let’s talk about how we can work together!
